Wondrasek Sisters | Will Rogers Park | Oklahoma City, OK Family Photographer | Michelle Valantine Photography

          Often, our family pictures consist of posed photos from holidays and special occasions.   But as a lifestyle photographer, it is my desire to capture a visual documentation of  childhood in-the-making.  I never know what the results will be going into a session with children, as my process is kind of a wait-and-see-who-they-are-and-what-they-like-to-do kind of approach.  And as a result, I'm usually able to get a couple of nice shots with the children looking at the camera with authentic smiles.  But mostly what I capture is a whole bunch more showing their unique expressions and glimmers of who they are on the inside.  
          On this warm, spring day Kala brought her two delightful and energetic daughters, ages 5 and 3, to Will Rogers Park for a photo shoot.  As soon as they emerged from their vehicle in pretty summer dresses, I noticed how the girls had adorned themselves with plastic rings, bracelets and necklaces to make their outfits complete!  Kala also brought a change of clothes...each of their favorite dresses.  She said they would wear them every day if they could!  This would be the perfect outfit for capturing them at this age!   And made me laugh as I remembered my own favorite item of clothing at that age...my beloved Fonzie (from Happy Days) shirt with his two thumbs sticking up saying, "Ayyy!"

On this warm, spring day Kala brought her two delightful and energetic daughters, ages 5 and 3, to Will Rogers Park for a photo shoot. As soon as they emerged from their vehicle in pretty summer dresses, I noticed how the girls had adorned themselves with plastic rings, bracelets and necklaces to make their outfits complete! Kala also brought a change of clothes...each of their favorite dresses. She said they would wear them every day if they could! This would be the perfect outfit for capturing them at this age! Andrea & Joseph | Will Rogers Park | Oklahoma City, OK Engagement Photographer | Michelle Valantine Photography

They had just come from an Anime Convention at Will Rogers Park when we met for our consult, so when we started talking about the details of their Engagement Session, it was easy to determine Will Rogers Park as their location.  We met early Labor Day morning, just when the sun's rays started peeking over the tops of the large trees.  Flowers were blooming all around us in every color of the rainbow.  The perfect setting for a couple in love.

He picked an amazing day to propose...her birthday!  They spent the day with her family, and he asked her parents for their blessing.  When they returned home that evening, he told her that her birthday present was hidden in the kitchen.  She finally discovered it in a very tall cabinet she rarely uses...it was a ring!

Anime Conventions are one of their favorite things to do together.  They enjoy attending about 3 or 4 a year.  In fact, when they first met, their favorite game to play together was Divinity.  She recalled how they used to spend hours playing together, which was valuable time getting to know one another.  They described themselves to me as geeks, but what I saw was a tender and sweet connection.  And it was my pleasure capturing it for them.
