Amy & Matt | Norman, OK Engagement Photographer | Michelle Valantine Photography

Engagement Shoot

by Michelle Valantine Photography

Do I have everything I need?  Location and time confirmed with client?  Check.  Batteries charged?  Check.  Memory card formatted?  Check.  Pack car full of gear:  2nd backup camera, reflector, lenses, stool, step ladder, blanket & last but not least, my lovely mother as my assistant?  Check.  Now all I needed was the magic!  And magical it was...Amy and Matthew's engagement session was a photographer's dream come true!  Just look at the beautiful connection these two share...

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning.

The first pose.  I enjoy starting off a session with a posed shot like this because it helps break the ice, gives us a chance to get to know each other, and gets them acquainted to my style of giving directions (or bossing them, as my 9-year old daughter so eloquently tells it).

But there's so much more that I'm doing besides just bossing, ahem!, I mean directing them. I'm witnessing their interactions, observing their eye contact with one another, and noticing how they hold each other. Pretty sweet, huh?

Then I watch them walk together (LOVE her!)...

...and laugh together.

Okay!   Time to get to work!  Let's start with balancing on one leg, kissing, and holding the sign "just so."  Beautifully done, Amy!

Your turn, Matthew.

One of their props included the exact ring and box he proposed to her with!

HAPPY DANCE!!!

I told them to play amongst themselves as I checked my settings.  Love, love, love candid shots like this.

I love how their faces mirror each other..."Are we really doing this?  Heck yeah!"

And my favorite picture from the shoot.
How lucky was I to be the one they chose to capture their connection celebrating their love for one another? So honored, Amy and Matthew!  Thank you for allowing me the privilege of showing the world what love looks like through my lens with you as my subjects.  Each of us should be so lucky to find a love as you have found in one another.
