From the
moment my client asked if we could schedule a shoot to celebrate their
daughter’s first birthday with a cake smash…and could we use a canola field as
a backdrop?…I was IN! It was a bit
of a drive from Norman to Weatherford. The skies were overcast and storm clouds
hung in the distance, but we found just what we were looking for right off the
interstate….a meandering field of beautiful, bright yellow Canola flowers as far as the
eye could see! We plopped little brother and
baby sister on a blanket for some “kid” shots, got some spectacular family pics in
the field, and then it was time for the “main event.” The cake smash!
A child’s
reaction to something new is always unpredictable, and little baby girl was no
exception. After her first taste of
icing…she was in heaven…fingers, knees, elbows, toes…they all got in the
act! Even though she had a whole cake all
her own, when baby sister saw brother’s solitary cupcake, she had to have it too!
